Leg 1 Interlude: Milwaukee

We took a day off from riding today. A chance to rest our legs, and also to spend some time in Milwaukee. Tomorrow, we're off to Kenosha.

Milwaukee is a super cool, quirky, hugely-underrated city. Easily one of the top 20 places in the USA, probably top 10. If you've never been here, you should come.

Cool stuff we did (we barely scratched the surface):

  • Ate a way-too-big BBQ meal at the Milwaukee Public Market
  • Walked the Riverwalk
  • Went to an experimental "sound art" performance in a darkened movie theater.
  • Gawked at all the beautiful old masonry buildings downtown, especially on Michigan St. (Pictures don't really do them justice)
  • Continued Marna's Nostalgia Tour of Southeastern Wisconsin by going to the Milwaukee Public Museum
  • Walked around the Bay View neighborhood
  • Went to the Honeypie Cafe for what was absolutely the best slice of pie I have ever had in my entire life.
  • Walked by a bunch of corner stores, and corner bars. Just located randomly in the middle of residential neighborhoods. I think this used to be common, but now they are rare elsewhere.
  • Went to the legendary Cactus Club, which was hosting a screening of some LGBTQ+ short films
